Our Approach
The Hampstead Gardener is a small, privately owned business based in Hampstead and Highgate in North London. We specialise in designing and renovating urban gardens, patios and window boxes. We aim to make every garden we work in a peaceful oasis for our clients. We are a team of female gardeners which undertakes design/build/repair projects as well as general garden & plant renovations. With a professional and trustworthy team of women, we are proud to aid our valued and distinguished clients.

Meet the Team
Alison McKnight
Founder & CEO
The Hampstead Gardener was founded by Alison McKnight. Ali grew up gardening. One of her first jobs as a kid was as a neighbourhood gardener in a NYC suburb. After getting a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from New York University and spending more than 15 years working in asset management in New York and London, Ali returned to gardening in 2014, bringing her professionalism and high standards to improving London gardens. Ali has taken a RHS level 2 Diploma Course in the Principles and Practices of Horticulture at Capel Manor College in Regents Park and graduated with distinction from the prestigous London College of Garden Design at Kew Gardens.
She has experience working in residential gardens, large estate design, commercial spaces (restaurant / businesses) and RHS flower shows including Hampton Court and Chelsea Flower show. At the 2021 Chelsea Flower Show, Ali not only worked on the Queen's Green Canopy Garden (not judged, pictured above), but also helped on the Guangzhou Garden (designed by Grant Associates, built by The Outdoor Room), which not only won a Gold Medal but also won Best in Show Garden (below).
